Standard straight crank handle assembly with splined U-joint for side roll tarp systems. The handle extends from 7' 6" up to 8' 9", with four length options for optimal positioning and ergonomics. The zinc-plated U-Joint features 21 splines to adjust the beginning and ending position of the crank.

Crank Handle Assembly Instructions

  • Insert the upper handle tube into the non-spline end of the U-Joint so that the holes in each component line up. The U-joint and upper handle tube are designed with tight tolerances; grease and a rubber mallet may be required. Secure with a spring pin.
  • Insert lower handle into the upper handle tube, selecting one of the four tubes according to your prefered length. Secure with 3/8" x 1-3/4" bolt and nut.
  • With the tarp system in the closed-position, slide the U-joint onto the spline and secure with the lock pin.
  • With the crank handle now fastened to the roll tube, crank the roll tube tight under the latch plate and then bring the crank handle towards the trailer so that it is pointing down. There should be about 18" from the ground to the crank handle. Adjust as needed.
  • The spine connection can be adjusted to optimize the angle of the crank handle at the closed position.

Side Roll Crank Operation Instruction

  • To close, use both hands to remove the crank handle from the holder and stand at an angle and distance that allows you to comfortably rotate the handle to the closed position, tightly rolling under the latch plate and locking the handle into the holder when finished.
  • To open, repeat the previous step in the opposite direction, until the rolled tarp rests against the tarp stops. Place the handle into the holder.
