SOUTH CAROLINA COMPANY HELPING KEEP TRUCKERS SAFE ON THE ROAD

(Greenville, SC) — Grateful to have a business considered essential during the corona virus pandemic, but concerned that their customers—truckers—might be encountering problems on the road, Carolina Tarps owners, brothers Jaron and John Ferrer, brainstormed about how they might be able to help. After considering several ideas, they decided to requisition a supply of liquid hand sanitizer from Anderson's Palmetto Distillery and send out a bottle with every order while the supply lasts. "While most truckers have been able to work during the pandemic," says Jaron, "things they normally take for granted—like access to soap, sinks, bathrooms, restaurants, and rest areas—have been hard to come by. Small businesses have been hit hard by this economic shutdown and we figured this was a way to throw something positive out there. Much of what we sell is sourced regionally from small operations, the distillery is a small local business, and a lot of our truckers are one-man operations. This felt like a win-win for everyone."

Palmetto Distillery normally manufactures whiskey and moonshine; the Ferrer brothers concede that their hand sanitizer definitely has an "Appalachian still aroma." "Which is not necessarily a bad thing!" laughs John. "And it's good stuff: 80 percent alcohol and FDA compliant."
