A bungee tarp return kit assists with rolling your side roll trailer tarp to the closed position with a positive return tension. A bungee cord extended through a PVC pipe maintains tension, with knots on either end of the PVC pipe setting the desired tension. The end of the remaining exposed bungee cord is fastened to the side of your trailer, helping to keep the tarp aligned as it rolls and unrolls. When you roll up the tarp to open the trailer, the bungee tension is increased so that when you go to unroll the tarp and close the trailer, the tension stored in the bungee helps pulled the tube to the closed position. Without some kind of assist, it is likely the tarp will deploy unevenly. Note: Bungee and PVC pipe do NOT need to extend the entire length of the roll tube.

The bungee tarp return kit includes 12' of Bungee Return Cord and two segments of 60" x 1/2" Schedule 40 PVC pipe, which fit together to form a 10' tube that is inserted into your 2" roll tube. This bungee return kit comes with an industrial-grade black polymer Return Guide that mounts with two included 3/8" x 1" self-tapping bolts, providing a sturdier hold compared to the hook-screw design that other return kits use.

Bungee Return Kit Installation Instructions

  • 1. Assemble male-end and female-end PVC pipes to form single 10' assembly.
  • 2. Insert return assembly into roll tube, securing the 2" end plug into the opening of the roll tube.
  • 3. Use the included self-drilling screw to drill through the roll tube and secure the end plug into place.
  • 4. Place guide 1/2" back from edge of latch plate, mark the bolt locations, and drill through the marked spots.
  • 5. Fasten the guide with included fastener hardware.
  • 6. Open and close the tarp several times, and make adjustments in the knot location if needed.
