Hay Tarp Pins are a much simpler solution for fastening your lightweight Protexia hay tarp. Simply push the 12" galvanized steel pins through the tarp fabric (will not damage tarp) and into the bottom bales, spaced about every 12'-15'. On fresh hay bales, you may have to adjust the pins to maintain sufficient tension, due to settling of the fresh hay.
This (30) pack bundle is for Large, and Extra Large Hay Tarps. Order a (15) pack of pins if you want extra, or if you are only using a Small Hay Tarp.
Hay Tarp Pin Installation
Install pins every 12 to 15 feet along the long side of the hay stack. On the ends, use 5 pins: one at the top, one about halfway down on each side, and one at the bottom on each side. Install pins into the "meatiest" part of the bale, with the anti-turn spiked washers facing the tarp. The KEY method for taking advantage of the Protexia tarp fabric is TAUTNESS. Use any extra pins to pull any areas of slack or drooping TIGHT. Inspect the hay stack periodically to look for any signs of settling and readjust pins as necessary to keep the tarp tight enough to bounce a coin off of it. One technique, as pictured, is to step on the slack of the tarp so as to pull the fabric tight, and then hammer in the pin.
Just remember: If it ain't tight, it ain't right!
Note: These pins are for use with Protexia beathable hay tarps only. Other tarp materials are not designed to be fastened with these pins.
